'G' Scale LayoutsThe Yorkshire Dales 'G' Scale Group is affliated to KMRC and houses its layouts in the Clubrooms. As well as meeting on Tuesdays, the Group's members also host 'Open House' days on summer weekends where their garden railways can be enjoyed. The Club can only run electric locos due to fir regulations, but some of the Group's members run radio controlled live steam engines on their own layouts. However, space considerations mean that rather tight radious curves have been used! The layout currently has three running tracks. The outer of which is operated as DCC under LGB’s MTS system. This allows us to operate and demonstrate both analogue and digital control. We operate both European and American stock in G Scale which is 22.5:1, predominately narrow gauge based upon one metre gauge. Trollenberg Heights - The 'G' Scale Challenge Linked to the mainlayout as a branch, this line zig-zags its way up a slope and is designed for youngsters to practice their engine-driving skills. A tipper wagon has sweets placed in it at the top of the slope and the driver has to reach the bottom of the switchback without spilling them to receive the reward. The layout has proved immensely popular at shows with the younger enthusiasts!
